Brand new Command Auto Group 90AA142 Magnet Speed Sensing Kit, designed to provide a vehicle speed signal for compatible Command aftermarket cruise control installations where a suitable electronic speed signal is not available.

This kit is particularly useful for older vehicles, classic cars, 4WDs, commercial vehicles, conversions and other applications where the cruise control requires an independent speed signal.

Rather than relying on the vehicle’s electronic speed signal, the 90AA142 uses magnets mounted to the driveshaft and a stationary speed sensor to generate the speed pulses required by the cruise control.

WHAT DOES THE 90AA142 DO?

A cruise control system needs an accurate vehicle-speed signal so it knows how fast the vehicle is travelling and can maintain the selected road speed.

Many vehicles have a suitable electronic speed signal that can be used directly.

However, some vehicles — particularly older or classic vehicles and certain specialised applications — may not have a suitable electronic speed signal available.

That’s where the Command 90AA142 Magnet Speed Sensing Kit comes in.

Magnets are attached to the vehicle’s driveshaft. As the driveshaft rotates, the magnets pass the stationary speed sensor, generating the speed pulses required by the cruise-control system.

• Double-sided mounting tape
• Cable ties
• 6mm hex nut
• 6mm lock washer
• Required mounting hardware

INSTALLATION INFORMATION

The supplied Command installation instructions specify:

• Minimum driveshaft diameter suitable for the magnets is 50mm

• Distance between the magnet and speed sensor should be approximately 6–9mm

• The sensor-to-magnet distance should remain consistent and must not vary with suspension movement

• Where possible, 2 magnets should be used, positioned 180° apart

• Always use the supplied double-sided tape beneath the magnets to help prevent movement underneath the cable tie

• Clean the driveshaft with degreaser before applying the double-sided tape

• The supplied mounting bracket can be bent or cut to suit the particular installation

• If the distance between the speed sensor and first mounting point of the bracket exceeds approximately 6cm, the bracket should be reinforced to help prevent metal fatigue caused by vibration

• The Black/Blue COAX cable connects to the speed sensor – polarity does not need to be observed

• Sensor wiring must be securely mounted away from rotating components, hot vehicle components and potential sources of magnetic/electrical interference such as alternators, electric motors and heavy wiring harnesses

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

The 90AA142 is not required for every AP600 installation.

If your vehicle already provides a suitable electronic vehicle-speed signal, a separate magnetic pickup may not be required.

The 90AA142 is intended for installations where a suitable speed signal is unavailable or where a magnetic driveshaft speed pickup is required.

Please confirm the requirements of your particular vehicle and cruise-control installation before purchasing.
